Obituary for Marcella McMahon

Marcella McMahon, 91 of Abilene passed away Thursday, April 7, 2022. She was born November 29, 1930 in Falls City, Nebraska, the daughter of Patrick and Marcella (Coyne) McMahon. Marcella grew up in Falls City, Nebraska. The family moved to Abilene when she was a senior in High School. She graduated from Abilene High School in 1948 and continued her education and graduated from Mount St. Scholastica College in Atchison, Kansas in 1952 with an Education Degree. Marcella taught at Second grade for 44 years at Garfield Elementary. She was a member of St. Andrew Catholic Church, Daughters of Isabella, Retired Teachers Association. Marcella is survived by her brother, Patrick McMahon Jr, of Hutchinson, Kansas and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Ella Jo Callahan, sister, Mary Neerman and brother-in-law Charles Neerman; sister, Marjorie Caldarulo and brother-in-law Dominick Caldarulo; sister-in-law Carolyn McMahon; nieces Joann (Caldarulo) Link; nephewsPatrick Callahan and Eric Hammerschmidt and infant nieces Cassandra Link and Bridgette Kentopp. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 A.M., Monday, April 11, 2022 at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Abilene with Father Peter O’Donnell as celebrant. Burial will follow at Mt. St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Rosary will be recited at 6:00 P.M., Sunday, April 10, 2022 at Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home with the family receiving friends following. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Andrew Catholic Church or to the Hospice of Dickinson County.
