Obituary for Lorene Brumbalow
Lorene Elizabeth Ackerman (Baxa) (Labarge, Brumbalow) 83, of Chapman passed away October 5, 2022. She was born in Republic County, the daughter of Ernest and Bessie (Kasper) Baxa. Lorene attended grades 1st through 8th grade in a country school and attended Belleville High School. She married John Joseph Ackerman on August 6, 1966. They farmed in Kansas after their marriage and the family later moved to Wakefield, Kansas where she lived for thirteen years. Lorene worked at the Key Egg Farm east of Clay Center for three years and at a nursing home as a cook for fifteen years. before moving to Abilene where she lived eleven years. Her hobbies included dancing, camping, and visiting friends.
Those left to cherish her memory are two sons Jerry Ackerman of Kansas, Bob Ackerman, and his wife Kaylyn of Virginia, and one daughter, Lori Mateer, and husband Ken of Kansas. She is also survived by sons from a previous marriage, David Labarge of Kansas, Roger Labarge and Jeff Labarge both of Nebraska, one brother, Loren Baxa of Nebraska and a sister, Evelyn Charbonneau of Kansas. Lorene loved and left behind many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husbands, Ernest Labarge, Joe Ackerman, Wayne Brumbalow, also a son, Randy Labarge and a sister, Marilyn Chaney.
Services will be held at St. Peter’s Cemetery in Miltonvale, KS, Cloud County,(highway 24/150th Rd.) on Sunday, November 6th at 1:30 PM.
