Joseph D. Collie, 76 of Abilene passed away Friday, June 14, 2019. He was born September 2, 1942 in Rochester, New York the son of Dominic and Theresa Collie. After graduating high school he went on and served for the United States Army. On January 11, 1967 he was united in marriage to Candice Louise in Miami, Oklahoma. They made their home in California for four years before moving back to Abilene. She preceded him in death May 12, 2004. Joseph worked civil services for the Army National Guard at Ft. Riley.
He is survived by one daughter, Tina Tanner and husband Todd. Two sons, Jeff Collie and wife Lori and Tony Collie. Seven grandchildren and seventeen great-grandchildren. One brother, John Collie and a sister, Jackie Brinkerhoff. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife.
Graveside services will be 10:00 A.M., Thursday June 20, 2019 at Prairie Mound Cemetery in Solomon. Family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6-8 P.M. at Martin-Becker-Carlson Funeral Home in Abilene. Family suggests memorials be given to the Lupus Foundation.
