Obituary for Jarrel "Jerry" Hafner

Jarrel “Jerry” Hafner, 92 of Abilene was called home to be with the lord on Wednesday, October 7, 2020. Jerry was born on July 20, 1928 at Solomon to William Roy and Viola Mae (McCarty) Hafner. He attended the Solomon school system and graduated from Solomon High School in 1946. He married Jean Root on July 1, 1950. They were married for 65 years until her death in 2015. Jerry was a loving father and devoted family man to his 6 children. He had a lifelong love of riding Harley Davidson motorcycles and racing cars. He owned and operated jerry’s Welding Service in Abilene for 50 years until his retirement. Jerry was proceeded in death by his wife Jean Hafner, a brother, Lon Hafner and his parents, William “Roy” and Viola. He is survived by his sons, Brent (Judy) Hafner of Topeka, David Hafner of Garnett and Brian Hafner of Abilene; Daughters, Darcy (Tom) Nogle, Laurie (Dan) Davis all of Abilene and Missy (Donnie) Bell of Hutchinson. 13 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. Private graveside services will be held on Saturday, October 10, 2020 at Prairie Mound Cemetery in Solomon. The family suggests memorials to be given to the Prairie Mound Cemetery in Solomon.
