Gregory W. Jacobson, 70 of Hope passed away Thursday, August 18, 2022. He was born November 19, 1951 in Hillsboro, Kansas the son of Donald and Ophelia (Rhode) Jacobson. Greg grew up in the Hope area, graduating from Hope High School in 1970. He received his Bachelor’s Degree in Business at Emporia State University. Greg grew his passion for farming from his dad, farming alongside Don until he preceded him in death in 2013. Greg is survived by his mother, Ophelia Jacobson. Sister, Wanda Lewis and husband John. Niece and nephews: Paul Lewis, Sarah (Lewis) Winterscheidt and husband Hank and Luke Lewis. Aunt: Edna Backhus. First cousins: Rodney Mueller; Jody Heath and husband Ron; Brad Backhus and Bev Reid. Second cousins: Jennifer Jay and husband Mike; Jason Backhus and wife Alisha; Mike Mueller and wife Sheila; Danielle Heath and Tyler Heath. He was preceded in death by his dad, Donald Jacobson, two uncles, Lloyd “Butch” Mueller and Paul Backhus and one aunt, Phyllis Mueller. The family would like to thank Mary and David Rohrer, Tammy Campbell and Bud Dulohery as caregivers and friends of Greg during his last years. Funeral Services for Greg will be 1:00 P.M., Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at the First Baptist Church in Durham. Family will receive friends Tuesday from noon until service time. Greg’s final resting place will be at the Ashton Cemetery in rural Hope. Family suggests memorials be given to the First Baptist Church of Durham.
