As an Abilene High School student in the late 60’s, I have two very fond memories of Clarence. (Now I know why many people called him “Junior.” ) I worked a couple summers on the farm with Clarence and his brother Frank. I started out bailing hay and later got promoted to driving a tractor through the fields. Clarence was a pleasure to work with, and very patient with a young man who didn’t know how to do either of those jobs. One day I drove the tractor several miles with the emergency brake on, burning out the brake pads. Clarence let me know that was not a good idea but he replaced the brake pads without scolding or penalizing me. My other favorite memory was daughter Janette and her mother bringing ham salad sandwiches and lemonade out to the field for us at lunchtime. Nothing ever tasted so good! Janette helped me learn to drive a stick-shift pick-up truck too.
More importantly, Clarence and Harold Leckron were my HS Sunday School teachers when I attended the United Methodist Church. They were two simple farmers who loved the Lord and passed their faith and knowledge on to us kids. I’m sure Clarence blessed countless people through his personal ministry. His rewards in heaven must be great!
Condolences and best wishes to his family-- Mike Wood, Abilene Class of 1969.

First time I met Clarence was at his home for Thanksgiving. Our daughter had married his grandson. His first question to me was, “Do you personally know Jesus?” I was thankful I was able to say yes!!! Clarence’s love of the Lord and his desire for all to know his Lord was seen his life. Love and prayers to Eileen and the family.
