Obituary for Catherine Patton
Catherine Irene Reed Patton went to her heavenly home on July 5, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. Catherine was born to Victor and Bessie (Hindman) Reed on July, 19, 1927 and she was one of six siblings. On August 2, 1947 Catherine was united in marriage to John E. Patton at the Methodist Church of Salina, KS. He preceded her in death on February 20, 2007.
Catherine graduated from Solomon High School in 1945 and also attended Brown Mackie. She worked for the Reflector Chronicle for many years. She volunteered at the Historical Society, was a member of Eastern Star and First Baptist Church. Catherine loved to cook, read and spend time with family and friends. She loved to dance and sing along to her favorite hymns, country western songs and Elvis.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her brothers Victor Reed and Robert Reed, and her sister Velma Erker. She is survived by daughters, Vicki (Bob) Wright of Abilene, KS, and Joyce (Ron) Montgomery of Rockdale, TX; one brother, Ed Reed of Melbourne, FL and one sister, Velda Isaacson of Salina, KS; five grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held Thursday night, July 7th at Martin Becker Carlson Funeral Home from 5:00-7:00. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, July 8th at First Baptist Church, Abilene at 10:00 in the morning. Memorials can be made to First Baptist Church, Abilene, Hospice of Dickinson County and Garten’s Countryside.
